BROMEXYL EXPECTORANT contains AMBROXOL HCL, BROMHEXINE HcL, GUAIPHENESIN & MENTHOL as its active ingredient combination of multiple components such as beta 2-adrenergic agonist, mucolytic agent & conventional expectorant used for the removal of tenacious secretions in the respiratory tract and reduces mucus stasis.
Ambroxol Hcl is a clinically proven systemically active mucolytic agent. When administered orally onset of action occurs after about 30 minutes. The breakdown of acid mucopolysaccharide fibers makes the sputum thinner and less viscous and therefore more easily removed by coughing. Although sputum volume eventually decreases, its viscosity remains low for as long as treatment is maintained.
BROMHEXINE HcL- BROMHEXINE HcL is an expectorant or mucolytic agent used in the treatment respiratory disorders mainly associated with mucus along with antioxidant properties. It functions by acting on the mucus producing cells and depolymerises the high molecular-weight mucopolysaccharide-protein fibers responsible for viscosity of bronchial secretions as a result thinning of mucus it reduces airways resistance and this clears the respiratory passages by facilitating expectoration.
GUAIPHENESIN functions by stimulating receptors in the gastric mucosa that initiates a reflex secretion of respiratory tract fluid as a result volume of mucus increases and viscosity decreases that easily expel out.
MENTHOL is a synthetic covalent organic compound having cooling sensation. It is a calcium channel blocker and functions by blocking the calcium channels due to which prevents calcium influx inside the muscle as a result blood vessels widen and causing muscle relaxation.
BROMEXYL EXPECTORANT is indicated to use in the following conditions-
