Category:

PREDNISOLONE is a most potent steroidal medication, an active ingredient in PCORT eye drop. PREDNISOLONE ACETATE belongs to class of corticosteroid (adrenocorticoid) formulated as sterile ophthalmic solution an anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressant agent used in the reduction or treatment of inflammation symptoms such as swelling, redness, itching and also in allergic reactions affecting the eyes caused by infections, injury or surgery.

PREDNISOLONE works by many ways such as inhibiting leukocyte infiltration at the site of inflammation, interfere with mediators of inflammatory response, and suppress humoral immune responses along with anti-inflammatory activity thought to inhibit phospholipase A2 which further control the synthesis of cause of inflammation i.e. prostaglandins. PREDNISOLONE also reduces inflammation by capillary dilatation and permeability of the vascular structures. These compounds restrict the accumulation of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and macrophages and reduce the release of vasoactive kinins which cause inflammation. Recent researchers said that PREDNISOLONE may also inhibit the release of arachidonic acid which further reduces the formation of prostaglandins (cause of inflammation). All these pathways are the advantages of PREDNISOLONE as it has multiple pathways to act as anti-inflammatory.
