Tobox (Eye Drops)
“THE UNBEATABLE DUO OF AMINO GLYCOSIDE AND FLUOROQUINOLONE”
Composition:
Tobramycin 0.3%
Moxifloxacin 0.5%
The most needed composition for the first in India for treating complex Bacterial infections. A combination of Tobramycin and Moxifloxacin, working together and enhancing the work ability of either.
Considering singly, the Two antibiotics having different mode of action:
Tobramycin readily binds with the ribosomal pair disabling it to produce m-RNA responsible for the protein formation in bacteria thus ensuring cell death. It also destabilizes the bacterial membrane by binding the 16s r-RNA thus the functional integrity of the bacterial cell membrane appears to be disrupted.
MOXIFLOXACIN is a 4th generation Fluoro-Quinolones, anti-bacterial agent. Floro-Quinolones exert their antibacterial effect by preventing bacterial DNA from unwinding and duplicating. Moxifloxacin hydrochloride is a synthetic 8-methoxyfluoroquinolone with a broad spectrum anti-bacterial effect on gram positive, gram negative and other anaerobic micro-organism.
When combined into one ophthalmic solution:
- Spectrum: Moxifloxacin has activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative Bacterial strains but has increased efficacy over gram-positive bacteria than the later. This brings forward a need for backing up it with another efficient antibiotic with activity against gram-negative pathogens, thus Moxifloxacin is teamed with Tobramycin, providing annihilation against Streptococci, Staphylococci and Pseudomonas species also.
- Resistance: Individual resistant strains can be treated with the counter present. For eg. strains resistant to Moxifloxacin can be annihilated with the action of Tobramycin.
Combination Drug for infections in Bacterial Conjunctivitis, Post operative and Post LASIK prevention from vision threatening bacterial infections.
Instill one or two drops into the affected eye (s), two or three times a day.
Or as directed by the Doctor

Adverse Effect:
Hypersensitivity towards any of the component in ophthalmic solution. Prolong use may cause headache, blurred vision, burning sensation and may differ individually. Watery Eyes (Tearing), And Eye (Pain, Dryness, Redness, Itchiness And Irritation) if not present before.
