Vira G (Eye Ointment)
“AN ADVANCE APPROACH TO TREAT VIRAL INFECTION WITH MORE EFFICACY AND TOLERABILITY”
Composition:
Ganciclovir 1.5 mg
Vira-G is composed of ganciclovir which is a synthetic analogue of 2'-deoxy-guanosine and is phosphorylated into its triphosphate form at the site of action converting into ganciclovir triphosphate whish is competitive inhibitor of deoxyguanosine triphosphate, substrate for Viral DNA polymerase.
Mode of Action:
When reaches the site of infection it is first phosphorylated to ganciclovir monophosphate by a viral kinase enzyme. Further, another cellular kinases catalyze the formation of ganciclovir diphosphate and ganciclovir triphosphate, and remains in the active moieties for longer period of time in herpes simplex virus (HSV)-infected cells.
Ganciclovir triphosphate inhibits viral DNA polymerases and also in addition, serves as a poor substrate for chain elongation. This active metabolite inhibits DNA replication by competitive inhibition and direct incorporation into viral DNA resulting in chain termination. These terminated DNA fragments are not converted into virons and do not have the potency to cause infection further.
Viral conjunctivitis caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV), acute herpetic keratitis and dendritic ulcers
